I do not think this is a good design solution but rather a cop-out! It does not address the underlying causes of homelessness. If you only deal with the symptoms you never change the underlying disease. redesign the banking system and reduce the number of billionaires. The US government has put more money into bailing out the banks than Unicef has stated is needed to rid the WORLD of hunger.

All the good ideas have been done. NOT!
Dorenda Britten - Tuesday, January 20, 2009
This cool bunch of products appeal to me as they illustrate our need to generate a greater pool of ideas from which to draw inspiration from during the design process. Ideas, the crazier the better, stimulate real advances in product development. The value of spending time extending and expanding our view of the world is underestimated. No wonder then that we frequently miss the mark.
Double umbrella:view again >>
I attended a conference in Italy whilst I had a broken foot. I frequently found myself, 2 crutches and an umbrella in continuous pouring rain, on slippery marble surfaces. Here is a knotty design problem – a combination umbrella and crutches?
Teeth in glass bottom cup:view again >>
The teeth in the glass- bottomed cup reminded me of a recent experience. Upon giving blood, I was offered a mug emblazoned with the logo New Zealand Blood. Whilst I think these people are doing a great and important job, and need all the promotion they can get, would I really want to drink my morning coffee from this mug?!
Fantastic ideas that need promotion. The last three will not enlarge, you just flick between photos 15 and 16. I have never seen any of those things before.
Hi Ian. Glad you like them! We have fixed the last couple of images. They work now if you would like to check them out.

Colour Blindness
Dorenda Britten - Monday, January 19, 2009
Somebody somewhere obviously thinks that green, any green – even Mint green will disguise the intrusion of plastic bales in the landscape. We guess that dark colours won’t protect the viability of the hay but why not hay colour?
While we’re on the subject, Kelly green doesn’t work for garden hoses either!
I have seen the video clip before, but I still think it is a perfect example of design thinking. It is thinking outside the box and if we are to survive in business in these difficult times I believe we all have to learn to think what we can do to solve the problem that is holding us back. We have to talk to staff, customers, even our competitors if that is possible, or at least some one in the same business line. There are some brilliant people walking around with great ideas which have not had the opportunity to release them. Go man go

Philippe Starck: Why design?
Jackson Beale - Friday, December 05, 2008
Designer Philippe Starck -- with no pretty slides to show -- spends 18 minutes reaching for the very roots of the question "Why design?" Listen carefully for one perfect mantra for all of us, genius or not.
